Scrappy Birthday to ME plus a Fabric Giveaway!

(Cue birthday song)
Scrappy Birthday to me...

For my birthday this year I want to give all of YOU a chance to get a gift! I'm sew excited to be participating in this:

By giving away this:

Isn't it pretty? It's a box chock full of lots of cottony scrappy goodness! It is ALL 100% cotton from the best manufacturers and quilt shops. These are mostly from my personal stash of scraps (and there's more where this came from!) Yes, that is some of the Daisy Chain line from Amy Butler in there in the corner. You'll see that show up in a quilt or two some day in the future. So do you want to know how to enter? It's easy!

Leave a comment to say HI! and tell me what YOU did for your last birthday! oh and tell me what you'd do with a box full of scraps.

That's ALL you have to do! (You must include a way for me to contact you) If you happen to surf around on my blog and see other posts you like, then please follow me or if you visit my online fabric shop and like the fabric shop, please sign up for my at-least-once-a-month newsletter for coupons and news about specials. (Rumor has it that I might just pack some more scraps into scrap bags and sell them for an AMAZING price on my website...) Or you can follow me on Twitter or Facebook. But you don't have to leave an extra comment for that. Oh, and don't forget to visit Jodi at Pleasant Home and say HI over there too!

I'll select a winner using Random Number Generator on Friday October 29 before I head out to Houston for the Fall Quilt Market (SOOO excited about that!).

And here's the absolutely, positively, bestest best thing about this post! A COUPON CODE!

Enter the code HAPPYBIRTHDAY to get 15% off your entire order!!

Hurry because this code will only last until October 31 at which point it will turn back into a pumpkin!

Happy Stitches,

Anna

ePatterns are Eco Friendly So I'm Giving Some Away!

Part of the trasition for Crafty Girls Workshop has involved figuring out how to build up our offering of patterns without having to have a place to store them. Well, then it hit me, why not work with some designers like Denise of Whimsy Couture who design patterns to be distributed through e-mail!? It's good for the environment, it keeps the prices low (NO SHIPPING costs!) and it allows me to work with new designers and really get to know the girl behind the design. So a few weeks ago I contacted a couple of quilt pattern designers, who both happened to be from Australia, and they both happily agreed to let me list their patterns in my shop! Yippee! LOOOONG story short, Crafty Girls Workshop now offers QUILT patterns for sale that will be e-mailed to you within 12 hours of your purchase! Look at a few of the fabulous options we have:

Sand Castles (Rebecca Johnson)
Charm Bracelets by Kate Conklin (charm pack friendly)

Rolling Meadows (JR Friendly) by Rebecca Johnson
These are only a few of the patterns available. The best way to find the patterns on the Crafty Girls Workshop website is to look at the links on the left side of the screen, there you'll see the link for Electronic Patterns (since ALL our patterns are electronic now that makes sense, right?) and when you click that you can choose the type of patterns you want to browse, such as Quilts or Kid's Couture, etc. Pretty soon I'll be adding even more patterns to the listings such as Tote Bags, Embroidery/Stitching and Home Decor. If you happen to know anyone who designs great patterns for electronic distribution, please send them my way! I love to work with designers!

Alright, now on to the GIVEAWAY portion of this broadcast.

This time there will be TWO winners! One will win a Rebecca Johnson pattern and the other will win one from Kate Conklin. BE SURE that if you enter, you include your contact information so I can get in touch with you if you win! Here's how to enter:
  • Visit the links above for the electronic QUILT patterns and then come back here and share which pattern you'd like to win, if you just LOVE more than one, list them in the order that you LOVE them.
  • Sign up for my e-newsletter (be sure to tell me you did) for shop updates, coupons, and sneak peek specials (link in the right hand sidebar)
  • Become a follower of Crafty Girls Workshop, follow me on Twitter, and "like" me on facebook (if you don't already) or just tell me if you do already
  • Visit Kate Conklin's website and tell her HI from Crafty Girls Workshop (you can e-mail her or leave her a comment on the blog)
  • Become a follower of Kate Conklin's Blog (totally worth it)
  • Visit Rebecca Johnson's blog and tell her HI from Crafty Girls Workshop
  • Become a follower of Rebecca Johnson's Blog (also totally worth it!)
Stop back here and be sure to leave a comment for each of these entries, OR you can leave one comment telling me each thing you did, I'll still count your name that many times, I promise.

OK, so get going and have fun looking at the beautiful quilt pictures on these talented Designers' blogs!!

I'll announce the winners on Sunday, October 10, 2010. Hey, that's 10-10-10!!

Happy Stitches,
Anna

Wacky Website Challenge and GIVEAWAY

I'm back and I said I'd fill you in on the details of what I need help with. I need all of you crafty ladies (or gentlemen) who have crafty eyes to visit our website and look for typos, misspellings, wrong pictures, etc. You see, in a month's time, Crafty Girls Workshop DOT com is going to be participating in the Fab Shop Hop!! I want our website to be spic and span perfect for all the visitors. Also, I have some flexibility with the way our shop is sorted into categories so if you have any suggestions I'd LOVE to hear them. Remember, we have over 150 bolts of fabric, so it isn't really feasible for me to go in and completely change the categories, but if there is another way to sort the items that you'd like to suggest, please let me know. So here is the deal:

If you will visit the website, "shop" around, click on items, visit the links, test things out and then come back here and put a comment on this post that says "Hey, I visited your shop!" You'll get 1 entry into the drawing.

THEN, if you find something that needs correcting and let me know THROUGH E_MAIL (to avoid any embarrassment) you'll get 1 more entry into the drawing! If you comment on here with a correction, I'm not going to count that entry.

THEN, if you have a suggestion for improving the website and you e-mail me your suggestion(s) I'll put your name in the hat again and you'll get 1 more entry in the drawing.

Here's a bonus:
You can visit/comment/e-mail me EVERY DAY this month for another entry! Meaning, if you visit the website EVERY DAY this month and come back here and comment "Hey, I visited your shop!" or something like that, I'll put your name in the hat EVERY DAY. If you happen to find another typo or broken link and e-mail me you can do so every time you find an oopsy for another entry! I'll also give you another entry for any honest suggestions you want to offer me through e-mail.

You could possibly end up with at least 30 entries this month! Pretty cool, huh? Oh, you probably want to know what the prize is, right? I mean, what could possibly be worth all that work?

How about a BRAND NEW charm pack of the 12 Days of Christmas line PLUS a yard of white on white Snowflake fabric? A charm pack has 42 squares of precut fabric. They are 5" square which makes into a cute baby blanket, throw blanket (with sashing), tote bag, even an apron! Here is a picture of the white on cream, so you can get an idea of the actual snowflake pattern. The fabric you will win is actually white in the background so that it coordinates perfectly with 12 Days of Christmas. (We also just ordered three more bolts of coordinating fabrics from 12 Days that should arrive very soon.) So, are you ready to help me with some quality assurance of my website? On your mark, get set, GO!!

Oh, and since I'm posting this a day into June, I'll hold it over onto July 2 so that you can get an extra day to enter.

Happy Hunting,
Anna

Giveaway Inspiration

The winner is April! April, if you see this please e-mail me anna@craftygirlsworkshop.com with your mailing address. I'll attempt to contact you through blogger as well.

EDITED: Becky, (Lori is the one who is adopting the kids) over at Babes in Hairland really inspired me today. I don't have the ability to donate in a monetary way to children in Haiti or Doctors without Borders, but I do have an abundant stash of fabrics (part of the reason Crafty Girls Workshop was born). I dug into my stash and found something that I think could help Haiti, in a minor way. My philosophy is that if many people do one small thing, it will become one HUGE thing. Does that make sense? I think Craft Hope for Haiti is a perfect example. OK so here's the deal. I've decided that I want to offer a way to potentially reward you for commenting on Becky's blog and helping to spread the word about it. I want to give you some of my stash. It's 34 squares, precut to 5"x5", I know 34 is a strange number. It's a charm pack that I had, called Look and Learn by American Jane, I opened it and layed out the charms with the hopes of making an apron, but then put them away and changed my mind. I know I started with 40 charms, but I only have 34 left, I believe I may have made them into pin cushions for a giveaway awhile back. But still, 34 should be plenty to make an apron or a tote bag. I also want to include 1 yard of coordinating fabric from the same line. This fabric is NOT readily available to fabric stores right now. If there is any around, it is probably difficult to find. Here are a couple of pictures, I tried my best to include all the squares in the scan, sorry if a few of them are crooked.

The 34 Charms
1 yard coordinating fabric
I'll keep this opportunity open until February 2nd which is when Becky said she will donate the money based on the number of comments. She said you can comment once per day, so consider going back tomorrow to comment too. Here's how to enter the giveaway for this fabric and charm pack:
  • Stop by Becky's blog (1x per day) and leave her a comment
  • Come back here and tell me you did that
  • Tweet about the Coins for Comments (and tell me you did)
  • Post about it on Facebook (tell me you did)
  • Blog about it on your blog (tell me you did)

You'll get one entry for each comment you leave here about each of those items. I'd be so thrilled to get lots and lots of comments so I know that somehow I'm helping in a little way too! I hope you have a wonderful rest of your weekend.

Happy Crafting,

Anna

Merry SITSmas to All and to All a Good Time

I hope everyone has TONS of fun hopping around blogland today! I wish I could join you but as it turns out, I have to work at my day job, bummer! Maybe I can catch up a little after work while I'm waiting for our cable guy to come and replace our box. A few weeks ago, the SITS girls informed me that Crafty Girls Workshop would be featured on SITSmas so I am so thrilled! I hope that we get a lot of fun comments and new followers and visitors. I believe that also means we're participating in the Giveaway that they mentioned, but I am not completely sure of the details. Just know that it's something very cool from our shop. I hope everyone is having prettier weather than we're having here in San Antonio, Texas. It's chilly, drizzly, and altogether just depressing. It's one day I'm actually happy I don't have a window in my office! So, I hope that if you stop by and leave me some comment love that you'll answer one little question for me:

Are you making gifts for anyone this year?

This could be baking, or putting together a mix for cookies in a jar (I love that one), or letting your kids decorate the wrapping paper, I want to know what you are doing! If you aren't making gifts, have you found some great deals somewhere that you can share? (I haven't done any Christmas shopping yet.) Thanks so much for stopping by and Merry SITSmas!

Oh, and if you have NO IDEA what the heck SITSmas is and just happened to come by today by accident, I recommend you check out the SITS blog. They are a great group of women who will always make you feel good with their blog recommendations or their comments.

Happy Stitches to You,
Anna

P.S. I forgot to mention that if you DO decide to purchase something from our shop anytime this month, please add Merry SITSmas to the message to seller and we'll add a little something extra in with your purcahse. Thanks!!

Charm Pack Winner!

Thanks to everyone who joined in our Sale-bration! It was so exciting to see our list of new blog followers and Facebook fans growing so much every day! I hope you will all keep in touch, because I have some great plans for this blog. There will be a lot more posts and they will actually have more substance than just what's new or on sale in the shop. BUT I think that's all I'm going to say for now about that. Without further ado...(drumroll please) the winner is:

Commenter Number 73 JILL!

Jill if you're reading this, I'll be in touch this afternoon to get your snail mail address so I can send that Aster Manor charm pack on to you. Oh, and by the way everyone, I guess as a sort of side effect of this giveaway, we've had a sort of run on our charm packs! We're down to just 3 of the Rouenneries line remaining and 3 of Simple Abundance. If either of those were your picks you might want to go grab them before they are GONE!! These were very difficult lines to get in stock so once we're out, that's it. The GOOD news is that we have some ULTRA cute fabrics coming in very soon that I really can't wait to tell you about. I hope you have a Terrific Tuesday!

Happy Stitches to You,

Anna

Fall-ing Prices Treasure Hunt

Oh no, I think I've created a monster! I taught Regina, the other half of Crafty Girls Workshop, how to go into our shop and edit our listings. She's also recently learned how to list new items! This is GOOD for several reasons:
  • She has time to list things during the day
  • LOTS of new stuff will be added almost EVERY DAY!
  • It takes some of the pressure off of me to do that side of things.

BUT she is sort of sneaky, she's been going in and CHANGING prices on our products! This is GOOD for you, our wonderful customers, and well, it's GOOD for us too, because we know we're going to be getting LOTS of fabric in over the next few months and we REALLY want to sell our products. SO, I guess it's a win-win situation. You get a good deal, and we move our inventory. Remember that magazine I talked about a post or two ago called Quilts and More? Well, it turns out that just as we got ours listed, the NEW issue came out for winter! But we still have 5 copies of the FALL issue! So we've decided to go a little crazy and drop the price, now it's only $5 (plus shipping)!! Also, the fall issue of Cloth, Paper, Scissors is now only $4.50!! That is SUPER crazy! Even after shipping you're getting an awesome deal! In fact, check our all of our magazines, they are priced to MOVE! Now our charm packs of CURRENT fabrics, such as Mill House Inn, Aster Manor, Simple Abundance, and Rouenneries are now only $7.00 each!! (See I told you she's crazy!) And here's a hint, I bet you can find some great prices on the Honey Buns and Jelly Rolls as well! There are lots of other specials to be found in our shop. How would you like to pick up some Beach House yardage for only $6.99 a yard or Panache (which is super hard to find) for $7.99 a yard!! These changes are sort of subtle and you'll really only notice them if you read this blog or check our shop regularly. We're not shouting this out to the entire world (although we wouldn't mind if you send your friends our way). We have a goal to reach before December 31:

WE WANT TO REACH 100 SALES BY 2010!!

Can you help us get there? I think you can! If we reach 100 sales, we'll do a FABULOUS giveaway on here, lots of great goodies for the new year. Please tell your friends and go check us out, because there are lots of great deals to be had!!

Happy Shopping!

Psst...Another Giveaway

There's a giveaway over here for something from my previous post a day or two ago. Go see what it is!

Happy Stitches,
Anna

Another Giveaway, Already!? (Times 9)

Well, guess what? It turns out that one of my favorite bloggers and my FAVORITE stitchery pattern designer from Australia, Jenny of ELEFANTZ, has just joined/launched a group of 9 quilt and stitchery pattern designers! They call themselves the Gum Nut Designers and their little group is called Among the Gum Trees (since they are all from Australia)! I think this is absolutely fabulous because I just love Australian designers for their quilts, patterns, fabrics, stitcheries, everything! I love their view of this wonderful genre of crafting. SOOO, they have one blog where all 9 of them are going to publish FREE patterns at different times as well as inform us of updates to their shops when they have new patterns to sell. And to celebrate their launch? They are ALL hosting giveaways! That's 9 different giveaways you can enter! Just visit the Among the Gum Trees blog and read about all of them and their giveaways. Then visit each of the individual blogs to learn about their giveaways too. OK, did you figure that out!? So I hope you have fun reading the new blogs and saying hello to all the designers and getting to enter the giveaways. Please help spread the word about them by posting on your blogs too!
Happy Stitches,

Anna
P.S. Ideas for homemade gifts in the next post, stay tuned...
P.P.S. Jodi from Pleasant Home posted a little feature about our shop today because we decided to post an ad on her blog. She has such sweet things to say about us, so please stop by there too!
