New Poll for fun!

I've created a new poll just for some fun and out of curiosity (see right sidebar). It will be open until midnight on July 25, so that's an entire month to reply. If we can get it up to 100 responses, I might just give something away in July. But we'll have to see. This is a hint about the exciting new products Crafty Girls will be offering soon, hopefully in late July, early August. Please reply, and if you want to leave a comment, feel free too! Thanks!

Happy Stitches to You,

A Quilt Retreat!

Wayyy back a couple of months ago, I got this funny idea in my head. I was thinking that last year I had a lot of fun attending a quilt retreat with my mother in law, and partner for Crafty Girls Workshop, Regina. This was a retreat organized by our local Quilt Guild and it was my first retreat for this purpose. It was AWESOME, we had so much time to sit and sew and work on stuff and all the food and goodies we could eat were already provided for us. I didn't have to worry about dishes, or laundry or cooking. It was relaxing, to say the least. This year, I am not really active in the quilt guild anymore and so I missed getting to register for their retreat but I found out that one of the members of Quilting Friends happens to be the related to the owners of a quilt retreat center and fabric shop in Hamilton, TX! So when I found this out I jumped into action, organizing a retreat. First it was just going to be for Regina and my mom and me. Small and fun, but then I thought, "the more the merrier" and I realized that there are several members of Quilting Friends who live in Texas and might like to attend. So I opened it up to them, and then to the members of a few of the quilting e-mail groups I'm on. The next thing I know, I've got almost 10 people signed up! Well that friendly relative of the owners of One More Stitch said that they could accomodate up to 16 people, so I decided to challenge myself to booking the entire thing! To make a loooooong story short, we still have a few openings, and given that there are so many new quilters who have posted here, I thought I would offer you all the opportunity to sign up and attend if you would like. This retreat isn't limited to people in Texas, if you are willing to make the trip, come on down!! Here are the details:

Date: Friday, July 17-Sunday July 19
Cost: $59.50+tax to register and reserve your spot, plus $59.50+tax upon arrival
Where: Hamilton, TX, just west of Waco at One More Stitch quilt shop and retreat center

If you are interested, PLEASE e-mail me right away. We have hmm, four or five spots open and I'd like to have everyone set by July 1 (the owners of One More Stitch need to have a final headcount for food prep purposes.)

I am also taking names for NEXT year's retreat (yes, we hope to make this a yearly event) so if you can't attend this year would but like to be contacted about next year's event, please let me know.

Well, I think that's it. I hope I'll hear from some of you soon.

Anna

Happy Stitches,

It's Almost Here!

It's quickly approaching, June 8th, the day of the drawing for the SEWN launch party giveaway! I am so thrilled by the overwelming response I've gotten! In fact, I am so excited about it that I've decided to give away BOTH the Glace AND the Figgy Pudding charm packs, plus one yard of fabric and that pattern for the table runner! This is mostly because I've had something like 175 people leave comments, AMAZING! There is still time to get a few more entries in the bucket though. You can definately blog about it on your blog and send people over here, that worked great for Jenny of Elefantz who has probably had at least 10 extra entries from her friends visiting. You can also become a follower, which I think a bunch of you have done, but the more the merrier I always say! I have noticed that a lot of you that have commented for the giveaway are new to quilting and I think that's AWESOME! This is the best time to get into quilting because there are so many wonderful resources out there in blogland, not to mention the fabulous SEWN network that is just about to launch next week! You should definately visit AmandaJean (the crazy mom who quilts) at her blog because she is always posting the most beautiful quilts. I can't believe how she finds the time to get all that finished! I mean, she has kids and everything! OK, and how cool is this? I e-mailed Sarah Fielke over at the SEWN network (and author of Material Obsession) to ask her if she knew anything about when Material Obsession Two would be available in the US. She's so wonderful because she replied right away! She said it won't be available here until February 2010!! Wow, that's a long time. I am really debating about whether or not I can wait or if I want to just buy it from her site and pay the extra shipping charge. I am all about instant gratification you know. So, don't forget there is still time to enter the giveaway and tell your friends. Oh, I almost forgot to ask this, if you are new to quilting, please tell me what sort of things you'd like to learn about. Do you want some ideas for easy and fast patterns or things to do with those precuts? Do you need help figuring out how to cut half square triangles or are you still trying to decipher all those quilting acronyms? I think it would be fun to be able to help answer your questions. Until next time.

Anna
