Moda Bake Shop Update

It's Wednesday, must be time for our weekly update of the GREAT tutorials on Moda Bake Shop! Haha, just kidding, but I did notice that there is an awesome new tutorial just for JELLY ROLLS! And guess what? There is only ONE more day left of Jelly Roll Madness Month! Have you used your coupon code yet? I'm sure the madness will continue in to October anyway. So here is what I found on Moda Bake Shop.

This is called the That's the Ticket Pillow and I think it's AWESOME! Sooo cute! What a great way to use up some JR strips you have left over from some other projects.
There is another tutorial over there for a very cute Diaper Bag but I cannot "borrow" the picture so I encourage you to jump on over there and download the PDF pattern anyway. Then hop over to Crafty Girls Workshop and buy a jelly roll or two (use your coupon code for a 10% discount) and you'll be on your way to a fast, fun, and easy project to keep or give as a gift. And don't forget that if you happen to have made any items we'd LOVE to see pictures of them in our Sew and Show flickr group (linked in the tabs at the top of the blog.) More to come tomorrow!

Bliss by Bonnie & Camille Now in Stock!

Bliss by Bonnie and Camille

I just love this new line by Bonnie and Camille of Cotton Way and Thimbleblossoms fame! It's fun, pretty and uses the Crafty Girls Workshop signature colors of aqua and red! (In fact, Camille's blog uses those colors too and it's eye candy in itself to read.) The shop has 4 bolts of yardage and ALL the precuts you could ever want from this line! I am working on a tote bag using the charm squares and can't wait to finish it and show it off!

Plus, of course, Moda Bake Shop has come through again with a fun and easy tutorial using a Layer Cake from this line.

Don't forget during the Jelly Roll Madness month of September use the coupon code JR10 to get 10% off your entire order!

Happy Stitches,

Anna

September: Jelly Roll Madness Month at Crafty Girls Workshop

I know it's a couple of days early, but if you happen to be like me you probably appreciate a couple days advance noticed on things. Yep, it's true, I am officially declaring September to be Jelly Roll Madness Month!! That means that all month long I'm going to search out posts around blog land to find great projects and ideas to make using jelly rolls! Mostly this was inspired by the

and then I saw the CUTE tutorial by Sarah B on Moda Bake Shop for making that

and of course I just LOVE the

Random Reflections Quilt on MBS (Fandango JR plus a Bella Snow JR).

So right there are THREE great projects to make using a jelly roll! Would you like to play along with all the JR Madness fun? If so, use the cute badge I created to post a link to this post and share your great ideas for JR Madness! You can use the BIG picture I have at the top of this post (please link back here to to my shop) or use this cute smaller one I whipped up. Just right-click and choose Save Picture As... then paste it into a blog post or on your sidebar and link it back here to http://blog.craftygirlsworkshop.com/

I'd LOVE to see what YOU can make with a Jelly Roll!

Also, check out the Jelly Roll page of the Moda Bake Shop blog, this is an index of ALL their posts using just jelly rolls! At the end of JR Madness Month I plan to add a permanent link to all the posts about Jelly Rolls in a new tab at the top of this blog. I want it to be super easy for you to decide what to do with your precut fabrics.

Happy Stitches,
Anna

Jelly Roll Pleated Skirt Tutorial on Moda Bake Shop

Pattern Click Here
Isn't this just the cutest skirt ever? It just uses one jelly roll and the instructions say you can get more than one skirt out of a single roll!  This is one of the FREE tutorials on Moda Bake Shop, which is one of my go to sites for great patterns using precuts. Well, guess what? As of today, we have this EXACT jelly roll, from the Origins line by Basic Grey, in the shop and as an added bonus you can use the coupon code JR10 to get a 10% discount off your ENTIRE order! I think this skirt would be awesome done up in the new Bliss jelly roll by Bonnie and Camille OR the Fandango jelly roll by Kate Spain. The tutorial, a debut by Sarah B of SaraB Designs, is really well written with lots of photos PLUS Sarah gives an added BONUS of the applique pattern needed for that adorable t-shirt on her blog! Thank you Sarah! So why don't you roll on over to the shop and grab yourself an Origins jelly roll to make up this skirt and pick out a second JR to get ready for the Fat Quarterly Quilt Along which starts in September! Don't forget to use the coupon code upon checkout!

Happy Stitches,
Anna

P.S. We have 4 BOLTS of coordinating yardage in the Origins line plus 4 BOLTS of coordinating Fandango yardage, in case you just need a little extra while you're taking advantage of that DISCOUNT!

Moda Bake Shop Random Reflections Tutorial

I'm sooo excited to announce that there is a new pattern designer on Moda Bake Shop! Her name is Karrie Lyne and she's fun and fresh and has the cutest blog ever! How could anyone resist a blog called Freckled Whimsy!? Check out this adorable and fun, modern, fresh quilt she has a tutorial for on Moda Bake Shop:

She used the highly anticipated Fandango line (a jelly roll) PLUS one of those AWESOME solid jelly rolls of Bella Solid Snow (we have those too!) Very very soon, when we get these precuts in, we will have a KIT of the supplies for this AWESOME quilt available in our shop! But if you can't wait, check out the tutorial now and remember that these quilts are SO incredibly versatile because they can be made with ANY jelly roll and coordinating yardage. That's the best part about Moda Bake Shop! I know, we LOVE the Fandango line (thanks Kate Spain!) but it's not ready to come out of the oven, so to speak, so we have to be patient. But while you wait for Fandango why not visit our shop and gather some other precuts or coordinating yardage and whip one of these babies up in the mean time? Maybe it could be a practice quilt. Think about making it out of a 12 Days of Christmas Jelly roll plus some of that Bella White Bleached yardage we have, we also have three bolts of coordinating yardage for 12 Days! OR, if you'd like to PRE ORDER the supplies for the FANDANGO Random Reflections Kit, please just drop me a line, you can click the Contact Us link on the webstore or e-mail me to let me know. I'll send you a pay pal invoice for a deposit on the supplies and when they arrive we'll bill you the rest and send them out. We have a seriously limited number of Jelly Rolls from Fandango on order (about 4 actually) so if you want them, you might want to reserve your kit ASAP.

If you would prefer to do a different quilt, and something more mysterious, why not join in with Karrie's Charm Pack Quilt Along? This is how I found her in the first place actually. I saw the adorable badge for the CPQA on another blog, and given my love of charm packs, of course I clicked it. Well, then I realized that we have ALL the supplies for the CPQA in our shop and I offerred Karrie's readers and quilt along-ers a little incentive to order said supplies from the shop. I guess you'll just have to go check out her post to see what it was. You can certainly take advantage of that incentive as well if you wish. I know I just can't wait to see how the quilts turn out!

Well, that's about all I have for today's post. I hope you'll have fun visiting Karrie and tell her I sent ya over. We have some more kits and exciting things planned for the future so this won't be the last time you hear about her on my blog. Until next time.

Anna

Spring Top Week: Final Round!

I've been rather quiet about this when I should have probably been shouting from the rooftops

"It's Spring Top WEEK!!"

We're a sponsor you know! What? You didn't know? You have NO idea what the you-know-what Spring Top Week even IS!!! Well, then you should definitely visit Rae over at Made by Rae to find out all about Spring Top Week! (That link goes to the archives of all the posts about this special week!)

If you DO know that Spring Top Week is all about the excitement of entering your home made/home sewn tops into a competition to win some ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS prizes (and in that mix is 2 yards of fabric from OUR shop!) and you haven't had a chance to vote on the final Top of the Tops, then you best get on over there!!

I think there is already a sort of clear leader at the moment, but I'll let you go over and check it out for yourself.

In OTHER fun and creative news:

I just listed a new KIT for making an adorable patchwork skirt out of charm packs!

I can't wait to try making one of these myself (then I'll have to find some little girl to test it out on.)

So, any fun and exciting sewing plans for the rest of the weekend? Or are you all already snuggled happily in your sewing rooms already instead of chained glued to your computers and Google Readers?

Happy Stitches,
Anna

P.S. The irony is that if you answer that last question, it probably means you aren't working in your sewing room!

P.S.S. If you'd like some inspiration for making some ADORABLE dresses for your little girls, check out Brown Paper Packages, she's using the SAME pattern and altering it in some way almost every day for a MONTH! Plus, her little "models" are too cute!

Another Sweet Moda Bakeshop Tutorial and CGW KIT

It looks like Kim Walus from Bitty Bits and Pieces (a very cute blog, by the way) has written an AWESOME tutorial to make up some adorable Valentines holders just in time for V-day! Of course this is a tute that's over on Moda Bake Shop and I was looking at the materials and it turns out Crafty Girls Workshop has EVERYTHING you need to create this cute Valentine holder for your kids (or yourself). A month or two ago, we ordered an entire bolt of Peltex and Fusible Fleece, just to get an idea of what this Peltex stuff was. It's a very stiff stabilizer that is rather tricky to work with, mostly if you're using it for lining a bag, but I think it would be perfect for the Valentine holder in the tutorial. So click here for the KIT for this cute tutorial. I hope you'll take a look. We've also listed some GREAT ric rac that we've had for awhile and it would make a great embellishment for this exact project.

Happy Crafting!

Children's Activity Tote KIT is Available!

Moda Bake Shop

Since there was a lot of interest in the tutorial, I decided to create a kit of supplies to go with it! Turns out we have all the stuff you need to make it, including the snaps! We'll even be happy to switch out charm packs or Bella Solids if you'd prefer, just let us know in the message to seller at checkout. Thanks Moda Bake Shop and Melissa Ann Stramel from Lilac Lane for this tutorial!

Wouldn't this be a great and fast go-to gift for birthday parties? I love educational gifts like this.

Happy Stitches to You,

Anna

Check out this Cute Tutorial!

Moda Bakeshop has a cute tutorial for using those ADORABLE Love U Charm packs. It calls for one charm pack and coordinating yardage. We have several solid colors that would be perfect for the lining. How about the Mint Green Bella Solid or the pretty Baby Yellow Bella Solid? The best part? 1 charm pack and 1/2 yard of fabric makes 2 bags! Make one for your child and one for a friend or if you have more than one child, they can each have their own, and reduce the chance of them getting into fights. I think these bags are just awesome and can't wait to try making one myself, and I don't even have any kids! And what a sweet sentiment to make one or up of these up in the L'Amour fabrics to show a special child they are loved for Valentine's Day or even for a birthday. If you choose to purchase the supplies to make this tote bag, just leave us a note in the message to seller and we'll print off and include a copy of the tutorial for you with your purchase.
Happy Stitching!

What's Cookin' at the Moda Bakeshop

Well, ahem, it looks like we are in tune with the universe here at Crafty Girls Workshop. A sweet and ADORABLE baby quilt tutorial was JUST posted on the Moda Bakeshop! (Sorry I tried to add a picture but Blogger is not cooperating this morning!) Well, it just so happens that we have this SAME exact fabric available in our shop! (I think this would be super cute using any of our Snippets bundles too.) Granted, it's not precut into cute little charm packs but charm packs of Sweet are pretty difficult to find now so might as well just buy it in the 1/4 yard bundles. You might notice that this pattern calls for an additional 1/2 yard for the binding and 2 2/3 yd for the backing which you can also find on our Etsy shop, OR you can always stop by our website to shop our OTHER shop and get more yardage if you need it. We have an awesome cherry red that would work great as a backing and a precious red with tiny pindots that would work well for the binding too. Oh, well of course I would just love this tutorial, it's from one of my favorite blogs, Crazy Mom Quilts, or Amanda Jean. She's just awesome in all ways possible. Again, sorry about the picture thing, I really tried to add some pictures, but blogger seems to have other plans today.

Happy Shopping!
Anna

P.S. There is still time to enter the giveaway, just comment on the Giveaway post (back a few days) I'll draw the winner at midnight (or before I go to sleep). Also, please add your response to the poll over there on the right ---------->

More Stash Fabric Listed in Shop and FREE Pattern!

Yes, it's true, we have listed A LOT more fabric in our shop. And what sorts of cute goodies could they be? Well, we have some gently used books that are instructional for various techniques such as Applique and Crazy Quilting. We also have some smaller 1/2 yard cut bundles of the Sweet fabric by Urban Chiks for Moda fabrics. That fabric is soo adorable. See?

Sweet by Urban Chiks

We just listed some Snippets by American Jane. Turns out Regina had been hiding this and decided that it was time to let it go. We've cut it into 1/4 yard cut bundles, and kept the price around $15. These are not fat quarters, but they are 9 inches wide and approximately 42 inches long. This gives you a nice amount of fabric for a great deal! Here are just a few of the fabrics. To see the rest you'll have to stop by Crafty Girls Workshop for yourself. :-)

Snippets by American Jane for Moda Fabrics

We have 1/2 yard and 1/4 yard cut bundles.

Now, here is the most exiciting part, I think at least. Have you been to the Moda Bakeshop recently? It turns out that the pattern they just posted yesterday is for making an ADORABLE little tote/gift bag using, what else? Snippets! It calls for four fat quarters (18"x22") and even though our cuts aren't fat they are still a usable size for the pattern on the Bakeshop. Believe me, I checked! So I figured this must be fate. Moda offers a FREE pattern for making a totally cute little bag using the exact same fabric we are listing! So hop over to the bakeshop and get the pattern, then stop by our shop and get the fabric. You'll be able to start making your tote bags in enough time to give all your Christmas gifts in them.

Finally, there is still a week to enter the drawing for the Christmas fabric giveaway. It's only a couple posts back and I think you still have a good chance of winning if you enter now and tell your friends. Remember you get an extra entry if you tell them about it.

Gotta get to stitchin,

Anna and Regina

Giveaway in Blogland

Hi Everyone,
Well, I've found another great giveaway by complete accident, I love it when that happens! I thought I'd tell you all about it, because of course, if you go and enter and tell her I sent you then we both get an extra entry! Kati Cupcake is giving away a KIT to make an AWESOME quilt with Amy Butler fabrics! Gee, those are my three favorite things!! You'll notice, perhaps, that I've created a little place in the sidebar to the right where I plan to feature any giveaways that I find in blogland. So, please check back here often, not just for Crafty Girls Workshop updates, but for new giveaways too! Oh, and check out the Moda Bake Shop, they've posted a few new patterns this week, including a nice table topper made out of charms for a disappearing nine patch! It's very cute and looks soooo easy! I wish I had more time to make some of these awesome projects. Oh, don't forget, there are over 75 new items in our shop this week! If you purchase any of the featured items, we'll send you an additional FREE surprise! The theme is Christmas in July so I've featured several of our Christmas fabrics and patterns. We have more to add soon (as soon as I can get them scanned in) so keep an eye on our shop. Now for a wonderful announcement...tomorrow I'm going to post about a Giveaway of our own! Yippee! Be sure to come back and see what we are going to give away in honor of my dad's 63rd birthday! It is definately going to be great. Hope to see you here tomorrow!
